Strategy is identifying your company’s best position relative to all the forces in its industry, market or ecosystem.

My Role As Strategist

Strategy and strategists come in many forms. My particular brand of strategy combines speculative design, foresight, systems thinking, and data to design business models, products, services and solutions fit for the ecosystem in which clients operate.

For more than 15 years I’ve developed marketing, branding, product, and business strategies on behalf of enterprises, brands, and entrepreneurs. The strategies I developed for each client was unique–as is my approach.

  1. Define: Create a shared 360′ definition of the problem to be solved.
  2. Map: Map customer journeys, ecosystems, and opportunities.
  3. Design: Use speculative design and systems thinking to design probable futures.
  4. Prototype: Develop low- and high- fidelity prototypes to test, learn, refine or pivot.
  5. Assess: Determine if selected solutions have intended outcomes.
  6. ACT-Celerate: Identify resources, assets, partnerships that can deliver impact faster.
  7. Own + Operate: Identify team or business unit to operate the solution as a business.

Over the past 15+ years, I have:

  • Founded corporate innovation consultancy to help multinational executives design ecosystem solutions that become sustainable businesses.
  • Founded and managed accelerators to discover and accelerate 10X solutions to address the social determinants of community health and healthcare outcomes.
  • Developed a national model for accelerating the creation of affordable housing to close the health-wealth gap.
  • Founded the content strategy practice at a leading digital marketing consultancy
  • Founded a marketing strategy & services practice to support field sales and phone sales at a mid-sized facility management firm
  • Founded a cooperative advertising agency to provide small businesses with creative services, media planning and buying to help them compete with larger competitors
  • Developed a virtual health coach for a leading health media company
  • Developed change management strategies to support enterprise reorganizations for an international media and entertainment company
  • Developed communications strategies to support post-acquisition and merger integrations for a large, national retailer
  • Developed marketing strategies to support new market entries, new business openings, product launches, growth in adoption, and sales growth
  • Developed product and naming strategies to position products and provide greater clarity and differentiation between related and adjacent product and product lines
  • Developed impact analysis and change communications strategies and processes to support technology-driven change, including the rollout of enterprise social networks and HR Information Systems
